Hello there you curious folk! With the recent developments of COVID-19 Alert level changes, we understand that you are keen to know what this means for TEDxPipitea. Due to the highly volatile nature of the Alert level changes, we are closely monitoring the situation and how our debut event might look like.
The good news is that we anticipated these scenarios and we have set contingency plans in place. Have a look at how we plan on responding to the different Alert levels.
Our event is designed for Alert level 1. Should Wellington be in Alert level 1 BY 7th of November, 11.59pm and remain the same until 14th of November 11.59pm, we will go live with the originally planned event.
However, if Wellington moves to Alert level 1 AFTER 7th of November, 11.59pm, the event will be subjected to the response planned for the Alert level it was in immediately before.
Our response to COVID-19 follows the Alert level guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. We request you - all our delegates, speakers, partners, and volunteers to take necessary precautions to keep yourselves and those around you safe.
How are we keeping you safe?
1. Provide access to masks at the venue
2. Access to ample hand sanitizing stations and clearly indicated hand washing stations at the venue
3. Maintain clearly indicated COVID Tracer app QR code posters and manual sign-ins for all those who will be present at the venue
How can you keep yourself and the community safe?
1. If you are feeling unwell, please stay at home. This is really important in Level 1 since there are no restrictions on gatherings which makes the risk of spreading COVID-19 high.
2. If you are using public transport to get to our venue, make sure to wear a face covering and scan the QR code poster.
3. Practice good hand hygiene - wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds and sanitize your hands.
4. When you are entering our venue, make sure to scan the QR code poster and sign in with the COVID Tracer app.
For more information on how to protect yourself and our community, read the official COVID-19 Alert level 1 guidelines here: https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-levels-and-updates/alert-level-1/
While TEDxPipitea was specially designed to withstand the dynamism of Alert level changes, we will have to tweak this year’s event in order to adhere to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 guidelines.
Alert Level 2 guidelines stipulate that public events can only take place with a maximum of 50 guests, maintaining a physical distance of 1m, with face masks mandatory. With these conditions, TEDxPipitea 2021 will not proceed under Alert Level 2, with a first priority being to post-pone until such a time we can have a full-scale, 100 person event.
If Wellington moves to Alert level 2 BY 7th of November at 11.59 pm and remains the same until 14th of November, the event will be postponed until further notice.
If Wellington moves to Alert Level 1 BY the 7th of November at 11.59 pm and remains at Alert Level 1 By the 14th of November, the original planned event will proceed.
All ticket holders with canceled tickets will be eligible for a full refund of the ticket price.

Under Alert levels 3 & 4 restrictions, all public and entertainment venues must close, and this means our event will be postponed until further notice.
If Wellington moves to Alert level 3 or 4 BY 7th of November 11.59pm, and remains at Alert level 3 or 4 until after 14th of November 11.59pm, the event will be postponed to a later date.
If Wellington moves to Alert level 2 from Alert level 3 or 4 BY 7th of November 11.59pm, and remains at Alert level 2 until after 14th of November 11.59pm, the event will still go ahead, but with a change to the venue and the capacity.
However, if Wellington moves to Alert level 2 from Alert level 3 or 4 AFTER 7th of November 11.59pm, the event will still be postponed to a later date.
All ticket holders with canceled tickets will be eligible for a full refund of the ticket price.
